Route Overview

This 4-night Scotland food and drink road trip begins by heading north through the fertile landscapes of Highland Perthshire. Where artisan bakeries, chocolatiers and distilleries set the tone for the journey. The route continues west into Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most dramatic mountain regions, combining iconic scenery with relaxed Highland dining.

From Glencoe, the journey heads north-west to the Isle of Skye, crossing the Skye Bridge and spending time exploring the island’s coastal produce, seafood shacks and whisky distilleries. After a night on Skye, the route returns to the mainland via Glen Shiel, one of the most scenic driving corridors in the Highlands. Along the way, detour to the Jewel of the Highlands before reaching the welcoming village of Beauly.

Continuing south, the itinerary enters the Cairngorms National Park, where farm shops, estate produce and local breweries highlight the region’s strong food culture. Stops at places such as Rothiemurchus showcase Highland ingredients at their best, while forest walks and lochside views offer a natural pause between tastings.

The route finishes by looping back to Perth via Pitlochry, passing independent food halls and craft shops along the way. With manageable daily driving distances and plenty of flexibility built in, this itinerary balances scenic Highland roads with Scotland’s best food and drink experiences.

Testimonials

Had a fantastic wee trip up the North West Coast of scotland in a Land rover Defender supplied by Nomadic Scotland. Great vehicle, spotless and well maintained. All equipment supplied and the roof tent and awning were very easy to put up and of very good quality. Would definitely recommend this business if you are looking for an adventure in a land rover with a roof tent.
