It offers the freedom to shape each day around your interests, the weather and your pace — while still benefiting from a thoughtfully planned route..

Route Overview

This island-hopping journey begins on the mainland with a scenic drive through Highland Perthshire and Argyll. You will then arrive in the harbour town of Oban — the gateway to the Inner Hebrides. From here, the route slows as you cross to the Isle of Mull. Where rugged coastlines, colourful harbour towns and white-sand beaches set the tone for the days ahead. With two full days on Mull, there’s time to explore at a relaxed pace before continuing west by ferry to the Outer Hebrides.

The heart of the itinerary unfolds across Barra, South Uist, North Uist, Lewis and Harris. A chain of islands shaped by Atlantic weather, Gaelic culture and wide-open landscapes. Causeways connect islands, ferries punctuate the journey, and days are spent exploring beaches, ancient sites and quiet roads with space to linger. The return to the mainland via Ullapool offers a gentle transition back through the Highlands, finishing with time in Inverness and the Cairngorms before returning south.

Testimonials

We rented a defender with the camping package for a week from Nomadic to do a tour of the Scottish coast and had the most unforgettable experience! Was so easy to plan the route, activities and great food spots with the extremely helpful Alex and Sandy, and with everything you need to camp being included in the package there is no stress in getting organised for the trip!

Definitely going to use Nomadic again, and have already been recommending to friends and family. Thanks so much to the team!
